Plug-in sales were up by at least 28% over January 2016. I say at least because all of the makers haven't reported yet.
And this January 2016 was a strong month compared to this January's flat sales.

Fast growing segment, especially considering that most plug ins are cars and cars are getting crushed.

I drive 1200 miles a year. I just can't justify spending $30,000 on a car that even if it's new, will still sit most of the time. That's why I'm still driving my $900 79 Thunderbird.

Good for you? That has nothing to do with the state of EVs now.

Did anyone watch Grand Tour this week? Did an interesting segment dealing with EV's.

I'd love a little electric car like this for around town. I rarely go far out of town anymore, and if I was, I'd take my gas guzzling mini-van anyway.

Model S and i3 household here. i3 lease is up in the coming months and the Bolt is making its way to my area next month. I drove the car out at a dealership in Los Angeles and was impressed but was turned off by the hard touch plastics, clunky electronics, and rough seating material finishes. I'll probably pass on the Bolt, but would consider getting into one on an aggressive lease (true zero down sub $275 including taxes) which may be feasible in a year or so after all the pent up demand gets fulfilled. In all the major OEM EV models (Nissan LEAF, BMW i3) have seen people pay a pretty sum for having the privilege of driving first and then a few months later the dealers and factory become very motivated to discount and get people into them. My advice is to wait but this is a fine EV but it's surely no Tesla.

There are quite a few out there 50 - 70K miles about $13,000. Seems like a good deal to me as long as they come with the charger. I heard a charger is $3000

Just a little off...

https://store.clippercreek.com/featured?page=2

Level 2 charger starts around $400. Clipper Creek are good chargers. And these are quick chargers, not slow ones.
If the charger that comes with the car is missing, that's grounds for a further discount. It should be there.

Every family with a garage should have, at least, one car that's electric. A SUV and a commuter electric car. We can eliminate 80% of gasoline usage by replacing one ICE commuter with a BEV.
