You can get very good deals on used tires at a auto wrecking yard If you've got the time... for most people it is much easier to just call and shop a couple of local tires stores.
I bought some cheap tires for my wifes car, they rode horrible, seperated, developed knots and wore out in no time, it cost me more than just buying good tires from the start, that said, you can find decent tires at a good price if you shop around.
Generally speaking, Brian . . . "cheap tires" are anything but cheap.
For the sake of safety, my suggestion would be the best tire possible at a decent price!
Have you checked Discount Tire or maybe Sam's Club or Costco?
bummer is right don't buy used tires or cut corners.if you do you will be buying tires again soon just go to costco or bj's and get a decent tire that will last you a few years.
I went to Discount Tire after checking on the
internet for my '96 Toyota Tercel all on (4) and
out the door for just over $100.00 plus they
rotate N/C every 3000 miles
Don't buy cheap tires. And don't buy just one brand new one if the others are well worn, otherwise, you'll have the car pulling to one side of the road. You may want to buy two tires, not one.

For 90% of people who drive their car to work and home again, they're fine.
I've had exactly one problem with a Futura tire, my father pinched the sidewall against a parking block. I went back to Pep Boys, shrugged and acted like I didn't know what happened and got a free replacement.
Cooper has obviously entered into a deal with Pep Boys to make a tire solely for sale at their stores. This is part of the reason why the prices are lower than the competition, since Pep Boys buys these tires in greater bulk. The other reason the tires are cheaper is because Futura Tires do not have any significant advertising budget. We have all seen ads for Firestone, BF Goodrich, Goodyear, Michelin, and other popular manufacturers, but Cooper doesn’t actively advertise Futura. This helps to keep the prices of the tires low.
If you compare them to the comprable Cooper tire, they are the same damn thing.

Interesting. My brother in law put a set of Futuras on his car to replace the O.E.M Michelins that it came with. The Michelins were gone at 30K. I believe the Futuras have now gone nearly 10K miles more than the Michelins.
