When you hear people talk about nice looking cars...FORD MUSTANG is rarely mentioned but they are extremely nice looking cars. Would you agree that FORD MUSTANGS are cosmetically under-appreciated? These are 05 and 06's...ahead of their time.
Actually to me that's the most retro model to a fastback. If I were to buy a mustang those would be the years I would want one. Of course I would want a hopped up one
I love my 14, but I like the looks of the say 69 and older, and the 70 - 73s as well, hell I even like the little Cobra on the Mustang II platform. I'm not find of the 80s models, and they are ok in the early 2000s.
That edition of Mustang was a nicely executed "retro-modern" design. It was very much heralded and acclaimed when it came out for bring Mustang design back to its heritage without being an obvious remake of a classic design. (Hence being a good retro-modern). As such, I would not say it is underrated in terms of design.
BUT, being mostly heritage inspired with a more modern flair and not an original design, it's certainly not the kind of original, classic design that is going to be mentioned among the best looking and designed sporty cars ever either.
It is a very nice looking Mustang, with a design that is wearing well It is not an Jag E-Type.
I don't think they've had a Mustang design that I've truly disliked. Even when I was a kid in the 70's I had an unhealthy obsession with the Cobra, tastes were still developing though
i think the most underrated mustang cosmetically is the 67-68 models. i think they are better looking than the 65-66 models because they fixed some of the minor styling issues.
