You got that right, it does! I would never have chosen the V6, but it's looking like it's the better choice.

Also, thanks to the many posts advising having a mechanic look at it on my other post about VINCheckPro, we're going to have that done. If that checks out, we're probably going to get it.

Listen folks, I am NOT asking for financial advice. We have a large chunk of cash saved up to put down and our payment will be low. You're just talking to a tightwad here and I don't like burning gas out the tailpipe unnecessarily, ok? "A penny saved is a penny earned" and all that....

I think the Prius option is a goner anyway, as we found that one will cost a LOT more to insure than the RAV4. Hubby has never liked the idea that he couldn't work on it himself easily, either.

Thanks again for all the practical advice and information, and for the link to the RAV4 forums.

If you must take out a loan on a $15k vehicle you don't have anywhere near a large amount of cash. Sorry.

You brought this on yourself. You stated you were going to have to stretch to make the payments and that the small increase in gas costs was a concern. You can't blame us for trying to give you a reality check.

That's too bad. Many other posters have stated the same thing. I can tell you pretty much came on here hoping for a confirmation that you were doing the right thing, and choose to ignore those who have a different opinion.

I forgot what her question was. Anyway, most people know what they want and come here for affirmation. Worse, they have already bought the car and ask if it was a good decision. That's Ok, I have done both.

It's a nice price for a nice vehicle. I'll buy it at that price if you won't.

Here's the gas mileage comparison ... you're talking about $150 annual difference ... not big of a deal:
