Same here. The only time I test drove a new car, with the idea of possibly buying it, was a 4WD AMC Eagle back in the 80's. It was such an unabashed junker that even in my youthful zeal I chose to reject it.

My wife bought a new Honda Fit in 2007. That's it between the two of us.

New cars are only 2006 scion xb new(175k miles, 14.2k), and 2015 ford transit 250 new (only 29k miles so far). Used was 2004 honda odyssey van($7100)...bought 88k...(138K miles now)...still own(drive 30k per year). Used..... 75 camaro($500(135K miles, crashed), 78 ford grand marquis wagon($200)(150k miles totaled), 81 corolla($300)(180k miles toasted engine), 83 olds '88(best 180k miles inherited from grandma with 70K miles, probably still driving), '85 caprice classic($1800)(190k miles)(best)....knew owner and he had 277K miles when sold, and still driving as of last update, and 2007 honda civic, bought in 2009 for 8K at auction(best)....owner still driving, only 77k miles. Only cars over my 34 years driving....I buy a car and own it forever or get crashed into. I prefer used if possible, but had to have scion and ford transit for business.

I think I've only bought 3 new cars out of 14 or so total.

Only ONE of the used cars (my first car ever) had a seemingly unsolveable problem that affected drivability.

I think "new" is a bit overrated.

1986 Plymouth Duster

An absolute joy to drive that 'lil subcompact. 5 speed 4 banger with a hatchback.....great in the snow with front wheel drive and skinny tires. A little old lady turned in front of me and killed that car. I was fine...

1989 Dodge Daytona

The Duster's replacement. Only sports car I ever owned. It felt good to pay it off, only to trade it in on a......

1994 F-150

A piece of junk. I got to know the service managers at two Ford dealerships REAL well.

I leased from 1998 - 2010 so those shouldn't count....unless of course I bought them when the leases were up.....but that wasn't gonna happen....'cuz I love that new car smell....

2010 Chevy Silverado

0% interest loan when lease deals were few and far between. Good truck and I still have it. Second set of tires on it and I've replaced the thermostat. I swapped out that 'lil sensor thingy as well....might as well when I changed the coolant. Decent no-frills truck.

1. 1978 Honda Accord
2. 1992 Mazda truck
3. 1996 Honda Civic
4. 2004 Honda Pilot
5. 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee (Just bought for my wife)
6. I hope to buy a Dodge Charger Hellcat in the next year

I've had many used cars between these and have lived most of the last 15 years outside the USA...currently driving a 2016 Toyota Landcruiser provided by my employer working in the Middle East.
