How many brand new cars have you bought in your lifetime? Here is my list:
  1. 1984 Jetta
  2. 1994 Ford Econoline Conversion
  3. 1997 Mercury Cougar
  4. 2001 Dodge Durango
  5. 2001 Dodge Dakota
  6. 2004 Jeep Liberty
  7. 2005 Cadiclac CTS
  8. 2008 Saturn Aura
  9. 2015 Toyota Highllander
  10. 2016 Lexus ES 350

I have another list. The cars that my sons bought but I was the primary influence
  1. 2009 Subaru Legacy
  2. 2014 Toyota RAV4
  3. 2014 KIA Optima
  4. 2016 Nissan Altima

Unfortunately, you can clearly see a trend away from the domestic brands over a 30 year period.

Mostly buy used. Only new ones were a 2002 Acura RSX, 2003 Mazda6, and a 2015 Kia Forte5.

none. why buy new and deal with the depreciation, high registration rates, high insurance, etc.?

Because I don't care about any of the above. You obviously do - which is your prerogative - but has absolutely nothing to do with this thread. I'm willing to bet you spend money on things I consider frivolous. Different strokes for different folks.
