Hello,

My car got scratched against a white painted corner in a Manhattan garage.
the body part on top of the rear wheel is where the scratch is.
to repair it it may cost $500 ... is there a way I can try to fix it myself before giving out $500?
Pic attached

Any help, suggestions will be appreciated ... or if you know if a cheap repair shop or something it can help too. (This is my husband's car that was lent to my unemployed sister).

Thanks

Sometimes transferred paint can be buffed off with some rubbing compound. If it's actually scratched, with the clear coat and/or color coat penetrated, careful work with a touchup paint bottle can help hide it. Not really recommended on a nice car though. It won't be the same as having a body shop fix it. Better auto parts stores will have the touchup paint and the rubbing compound, but with a BMW they may not have your color. Amazon might.

Soooo... straight corner somehow managed to follow the CURVED shape of the fender and door? As you have scratches on a curved surface, you know.
Some of it will buff away with 1200 grit wet or dry sand paper, then buffed. There are some areas though that look like dents. Hard to tell. Color match is VERY experienced job. I'd buff what I can and drive as is, saving money for repair if so needed.
Car not washed for several weeks and rains covers much of what will be left after buffing.

I haven't seen the car yet. My sister sent me this pic.
She might have scratched against a white wall ... I also asked her about the dents but she said that'she just a reflection and there are no dents (well see)

Amazon seem to have also the exact color as well as a product with great reviews called oops something
Consider though this is a leased car so maybe it's just smarter to fix it professionally.
But maybe I can just try to polish/remove the white paint on the scratch first and check out the real damage. What product can help?
Thanks

From the looks of the pic..I would take to a body shop.. AND $500 is not a bad price.. Just wondering what the thought process was to lend your Hubby's car and a leased one at that to your Unemployed and obviously not insured sister....

AND she still has the vehicle?????

After blowing the pic up there is more than just scratches there.. This is not DIY job...

NAPA can mix and match any automotive color and put it in a rattle can. They can also provide clear coat in a rattle can. Do your prep and priming or it will come off. Also, test match the color on a separate piece of metal before putting it on your car. Small batches are hard to match. Just haze it and wait until it flashes. A good paint job is built, not sprayed.
