Here in our part of the country, go down to the biggest parking lots in town, and you will find that the majority of vehicles are 4 door pickups or Medium to large SUVs. And they are all 4 wheel drive/AWD Kind of the modern equivalent of the big cars of the 70s . We want to be able to go anywhere in the winter, spring, summer, and fall.

These vehicles are today's version of the big autos.

What my wife and I drive, we downsized to midsize, with all the extras-----http://tinyurl.com/hvauqbu

We have a Ford F150 and the Explorer.

I was out biking a few days ago and saw a BMW pulling to the side of the road. Don't know what year, maybe 2005-2007. It was overheating and I saw steam emerging from the hood. The owner said he thinks it was the water pump. He called his wife and she called the auto club.

To answer the question, I do miss seeing '60s and '70s cars driving around. It gets tired seeing the same cookie-cutter cars. However, the weekly car show out here is a treat to stop by and see cars when they had styling.

I own a '76 Cadillac Limousine so I can also still enjoy '70s cars, too.
I'm sure the '70's cars lasted great in the idyllic setting of Southern California, but in the gritty heartland of Ohio you very often saw 2 and 3 year old cars with wide swaths of rust along the wheel wells, rocker panels, and trunk lids. Exhaust systems needed replaced every couple of years, carbs rebuilt every 15k miles or so, and holes in the floorboards and frames rusting out by the time the car saw its 5th to 8th birthdays were very common.

I miss my 67 Gran Prix. It was truly a bucket of rust. But that bucket of rust could hold it's own.

That is the new Shelby 700 HP F150. I don't have the $100K for it nor do I have the cash for the little car it is pulling. Would take either one. Would prefer the car though over the truck, but I am not going to say no to the truck.

Here is a car from the 70's that I miss.

Here is another. My dad had one of these, a 1971 Honda 600. My dad had this exact color. Water cooled 2 cylinder engine. He kept it parked next to his 1964 Cadillac Coupe De Ville.

YUP

1976 Grand Prix - mine was triple white with half vinyl roof

they made the 3rd generation bigger because of safety mandates on 5 mph bumpers.

Before that I had a pretty Cutlass Supreme emerald green but I think it was slightly smaller.

One of the best cars I ever owned was the boxy 77-90 caprices. police cars especially, stiff springs, good 3.42 gear in the 8.5 rear, big brakes, that handled great, just lacked power even with the TBI 350, so I took a Lt1 and 4L60E out of a 95 fleetwood caddie and swapped it into a 89 I had, it was a beast The boxy bodies weighed much less than the 94-96 bodies and had a better rear gear the LT1 police cars only got 3.08's It was the perfect car. U used every factory part I could for the swap. factory dual exhaust, wiring, everything

None of them cars in the 70's thru the mid 90's had any real power. I already had a oil leaking LT1 that leaked in 5 diff places in a 1996 Z28 i bought and kept for 3 months back in 06. I was gonna swap in a LS2, but bought a 05 GTO. Only kept the GTO for 3 moths as well then got a 04 C5 and kept that 3 months and bought a LS2 06 C6 and that was perfect once modded.

LT1's from the factory where bad for some reason about leaking oil from the back of the intake manifold, and Wp drive seal in the timing cover.. once fixed though, you rarely had any more problems.

Mine leaked from the back of the intake, rear main seal, opti spark oil pump and front seal. The Z28 was like new inside out with a body kit and nice 18" wheels with 65k miles. Must have been beat on. Back then i was buying cars and trucks every 3 months. The C6 Vette was perfect once modded and would do high 11's. That was my fav car.

Now have a 2015 GT Stang and once modded will be about the same as the C6 .
