That would be pretty easy to notice. Plus the expense.

It is harder to catch thieves than one may think...

May be even worse than thought. The last time I spoke to him, he had this advice "You should take pictures (of your place), that is all you'll have left. He bought his land from a guy whose brother is in a federal pen for burning down post office buildings after dropping through the roof and stealing the Money Order machine.

Sixty gallons would make quite a blaze...

1. Go to a truck stop and buy the tank insert that keeps unwanted people from siphoning from the tank.

2. Mount 2 trail cams, one viewing the tank and the second viewing the other trail cam. Try to hide both.

3. Only store ethanol free fuel.

I would agree with Garthur. Invest in some trail cams if you suspect there is theft taking place. You can always resell the cams on Craiglist or eBay when you're finished with them.

Still....it seems remarkable that someone would pick a lock, albeit a simple lock, for gasoline.

Going to try it again while keeping more accurate records of usage. I had thought that the fence and the locking Velvac fuel cap would be enough.

LOL. People have been murdered for their athletic shoes..........

It could be leaking/venting at the sender gauge or possibly at the cap. Id recommend replacing both of those gaskets and start there.
