How about it? What are you trying to do in those 6.3 seconds?

8.2 seconds for 0 to 60 mph was fast in 1990. Today, most $20,000 mass market compact cars do that and 10 seconds is considered under powered.

As a matter of comparison, little old lady Courtney Force just last week clocked 3.804 in the 1/4 mile, in her Chevrolet Camaro SS, for the quickest elapsed time in history.

Varies slightly every time and 2. Is really just a measure of how much you floor it, and how well your engine and trans work together each pass.

How fast is a 1998 "Niner" (Jeep Grand Cherokee 5.9L V8) Jeep, for example. ? Vs a regular Laredo 4.0 ... Grand Cherokees had 4.0 at one point..
I had a 98 5.9 GC, it was way faster then a 4.0 Laredo, was fastest production SUV made in 98. BMW a year or two later put a powerful V8 in X5 to beat it. In current times, the 5.9 would be dog slow compared to modern go fast SUV's, but still faster then 50% of cars on road running in 6's to 60. For me now, mid 4's and under are considered fast.

I have trouble calling something slower than a Camry fast. And the v6 ones of those will do it in 5.7s.

Our v6 RAV4 will do it in 6.3s, which is enough to leave even many "sporty" cars behind at the light. There was a manual transmission version available overseas that would do it in 5.5s.

Not in terms of a standing mile..
Not in terms of a quarter mile (or an eigth of a mile..)
Not in terms of top speed in a straight line (highest hp usually wins)

I'm talking about everyday driving, stop-light "races" where dude with a Camry can get the jump on "guy in a Jeep" and whoever is the fastest earns the cutting off... it has been said the fastest cars are made right now... what were the 0-60 times of exotic 90s supercars with big V-12 engines...

** is 0-60 in "6" seconds fast? When do we start calling a car "fast." For an everyday, regular car..
8.2 seconds is solidly slow. Typical slow economy car acceleration. You'll get out run by Hyundai Elantras left and right. Faster than a Prius but that's not saying much of anything now is it?

6 seconds is reasonably quick. You still won't want to mess with Camrys as some of them have V6s so better to be safe and realize you're not in a car that's actually quicker than a Camry. I'd say quick is anything from 5 to low 6 second range is quick. Lots of cars are quick. Hopped up economy cars like the Focus ST, Camrys with the V6.

Border line fast is 4.5-5 seconds. . Very hopped up economy cars like the Focus RS or WRX STi, bigger engines on entry-level sport luxury sedans like the BMW 335i. Still within the range of normal vehicles but definitely on the faster end.

Fast is low 4 seconds and below. Mustang GT350, Corvette, 718 Cayman/Boxter S. These days even low 4 seconds is blurring into just quick. I'd say in another 5 years 0-60 in the 4 second cars will just be considered borderline fast.

Definitely fast is below 3 seconds. While you can get cars that aren't really known for outright speed that will do high 3 second 0-60 like the 718 Cayman S w/ PDK, the low and below 3 second is just fast. Audi R8 V10 Plus, Corvette ZR1, Tesla P90/100D.

X5M X6M are more claimed 4 second vehicles. And BMW underrates everything. Probably more high 3 seconds on a dag strip and closer to 600 hp real world.

I think a better question is:

"Is car/truck _________ fun to drive?"

The answer will vary from person to person, but the "Yes" answers will include cars from 3 second to 8 second 0-60 times.
Part of it is what it odes when. Some cars may be amazing 0-30 but then dull after, or they may be a trill only from 40 - 80.

My son just bought an old Ford Supercoupe. Not very impressive 0-60 time, however if you cannot make it put a smile on your face in third gear, you are not driving it right.

It all depends on the who, when, and where- - - and what makes you smile.

Even an X5 3.0si with the non-turbo inline 6 does it in 7.8 sec and it was the lowest trim.
