I had a leak in the brake fluid line and needed to get the break shoes and pads replaced.

I picked up the car earlier and it felt like it didn't have brakes. I wonder if it will work itself out or if more fluid has to be directed there, they didn't take it for a test run. Plus the emergency brake seems really loose like it's disconnected. I wonder if this will work itself out as the fluid goes to the brakes or if something was done wrong. I remember a few times after getting the brakes done that they felt really tight and these feel really loose.

If safe to do, take it back immediately. None of this is normal.

Sounds like job was not finished, And test drives are required to "seat" the new pads.

Bad brakes do not fix themselves........it is a sealed system, so it can not bleed itself out to work better.

Take it back immediately, brakes are the one car component you can not play around with. Something is wrong.

I had some new tires installed at a Sears store a few years ago.

When I picked up the car their was a dripping mark under the car. I took a quick look and it was brake fluid. I though, well I'm at a Sears store I'll just have them fix it. The service guy told me that by state law that all the brake lines have to be replaced and the wheel cylinders replaced, it would cost anywhere from $500-$1000. I told him that I would fix it.

I waited till 2am and then drove the car home the 40 miles.

I ended up replacing just one brake line that went to the right rear wheel. It cost me $20 for the parts and another $15 for DOT 3.

If you drive long enough, you will have brake loss at the worst times.

Don't screw with this it has to be fixed by some one that knows what they are doing.

The title says you got them fixed, but the post says you didn't.

I don't really know much about cars. I know that I've had a break line leak before and I kept filling it with more fluid until I could get it fixed and it was fine.

Also I went to look to make sure it had fluid and the fluid was black, so I think maybe the master cylinder is bad or the one of the brake lines are bad. The thing I don't get is why the emergency brake doesn't work, could it be disconnected?

What pisses me off is that they told me to come in 45 minutes while they were finishing and they didn't bother to take it for a test ride.

Maybe there is air in the system or he didn't bleed it, but the black fluid I goodled and it seems like a problem.
