The ES is a midsize car, however the midsize Audi is an A6 which is a lot more expensive. Pricewise you are looking at an A4. You have to remember that with German cars almost everything is an option whereas with Japanese they throw them in as standard.
If your main concern is road noise, I think the Lexus will be fine for you. You really should test drive both.
I plan on test driving the Lexus in early April to get a feel for it. From all reports I think I will probably end up in the ES.
I am thinking about taking my Hyundai Elantra to sell at either CarMax to see how much they will give me then one of my Local Hyundai dealerships instead of trading it in. I don't think I would get much trading it in at Lexus lol if anything I can use the other two offers to see if they are actually giving me a good deal on the trade if I go that route otherwise Ill just sell it to the Carmax or other dealership.

Anything but the Audi. Learn from my mistake! Bought a brand new A4 a while back. Beautiful car. Spent the first 6 weeks we owned it at the dealership. Electrical nightmare. The door locks didn't work, memory seats didn't work, etc. From the day we bought it. At first, we thought it was just us not being able to figure them out. Nope. Took it to the dealership, where it lived for the next 6 weeks until they could figure it out.
After the initial debacle, we went through 3 radios in a year. They would just die. After the second one, we brought up the idea that maybe it wasn't the radio but something causing it to die. Audi's attitude was, no, that wasn't it.
Long story short, in the 4 years we owned it, the dealership billed Audi for $14,000 worth of warranty repairs. When the check engine light went on the last time, we got rid of it. Oh, turned out that the reason the check engine light came on was because the tranny needed to be replaced, which would have been another $4K. It was dangerously close to being out of warranty at that point, so we got rid of it. Never, ever again.
So I'm in the market looking for a Certified Pre Owned Lexus car but recently thought about Audi as they make really nice looking cars.
I've been looking at 2016 Lexus ES 350's with Navigation pretty heavily and like the features it has.
What would be Audi's version of the ES 350 the Audi A6?
What I'm looking for is something that is quiet in the interior for mostly highway driving in Texas for my commute. Would the Audi as quiet going down the road as the ES?
I currently drive a Hyundai Elantra so I'm sure either would be way quieter than what I have now.
Opinions Go!
I test drove several older luxury vehicles before buying because quietness, smoothness(floatyness) were my major criteria and Lexus was the quietest among A6, ES330, G37 and C300 ( 2011) and TSX .
It picks up slowly than the rest, but for long commute it better than the rest.
