Don't get me started on those "Stupid Lube" outfits. They can and do screw up every part of this simple maintenance, and instead of paying attention to the job you hired them to do, engage in "leg humping" up-selling of other services that, to put it kindly, you don't really need.
Yup. There are only three people that will change the oil on our vehicles. Myself, or one of the two guys at the independent shop I've used for many years.

Had a couple of bad experiences, one at a "quickie" place and the other at a dealer. For such an easy task there is no reason to take the risk, especially when it doesn't save any time or money.

The immediate response from our members is to say: just change your own oil rather than go to a shop or dealership. For some people it is the convenience of a Jiffy Lube to pay someone to change oil. Perhaps they live in a place where working on a car is prohibited.

It is all about how much you value your time and money.

I've been there and I understand. But I'll take a trustworthy mechanic rather than have some random person who may well be hungover or worse messing with my vehicles.

I change my own, but am also lucky that the filters on my vehicles are easy to get to. In fact, I probably could do it blindfolded. On the other hand, I've read about a vehicle that requires at least 4 hours to do a oil change on due to the filter being hidden.

I bought the lifetime oil change so I have no choice. Its actually quite convenient! Especially since its a big engine. I will break even in another 2 years heh. I change my own in the little SUV and its so easy.
