I'm building a shop and think I would like to install a lift. The 2-column lifts are cheaper, but I have trouble seeing how they could be stable. The 4-column lifts cost more, but the geometry would keep them from collapsing so easily.
Does anyone here have a lift? What kind did you choose? Do you like it?
THEY SAG AND DONT HOLD LEVEL! I HATE MOHAWKS! Nothing like throwing a 3/4-1 ton truck on one rated for 18,000 and have it teeter totter.
Rotary is the way to go... Swing arms are thicker, and extend further. If you are only going to lift cars-the asymmetrical ones are fine... Going to lift pickups, a standard lift is perfect. The best one I had was one rated for 18,000 and it actually could lift what it was advertised. Remove the 9/16ths bolts out of the swing arms and you could put a small car up in the air grabbing the pinch welds.
You were being too specific. A search for "lift" brought it up. This other thread was on the front page, just a few posts down from the one you started. I wasnt trying to discourage discussion, but help you with the exact same topic, that some one started yesterday.
