Ja, me too! Went to the top about 160mph but in a Opel Rekord. Very disciplined driving there. No one hogs the left lane. After a few days getting used to it, it became the norm.

Because if you try to hog the left on the autobahn, you'll get rear-ended by a Porsche or Ferrari or such that you didn't even see coming. They just suddenly appear.
Fastest for me was a passenger on the autobahn- probably somewhere around 125mph getting southwest of Munich in a proper rented Mercedes. Germany's worth a vacation for the high speed transportation options alone- both the automobile and train travel is whee!
Drove 110+ in a rented Buick Riviera between the PCH and I-5 near San Luis Obispo trying to get to our hotel in Pasadena. Got tired of HOURS on the PCH from San Francisco.
Rode shotgun at 140+ in my buddy's 79 Trans Am with the Bandit engine/package.

Numerals on the speedometer on my '69 Pontiac only went to 120 but the needle would continue to move into the P R N D 1 2 display across the bottom of the dial. Had to the 1 more than once, which would have been 120+, probably more like 130-135?
Detroit V-8s had serious top end once upon a time.
Would never consider doing that today, even on a closed course.
1988, was in a 1984 Buick Skyhawk w/4 speed manual and a 2.0L 4 cylinder with 80 something horsepower. Speedometer maxed at 85 back then. Car flew past me on the interstate and I tried to catch up to see how fast he was going. Pegged out the 85 when I quickly caught up to the guy. He made a whirlly hand gesture to warn me of a cop ahead. I braked back down to the speed limit. Drove under an overpass and on the other side was a state trooper in a Mustang 5.0. A mile or two later that guy flew past me again.
140 in my Mustang, and it was still going. I let off, getting too squirrely. That was fast but it was on the highway. The fastest sensation of speed would be. Going 80 down a narrow dirt path with my Honda XR600 dirt bike. Hedge row on one side and weeds close on both sides. On the edge of a farm that went way back to the river.
I actually got pulled over once while going 150+ on a motorcycle (1992 Kawasaki ZX11) about 25 years ago. The police officer said that his speedometer was certified to 120mph (unmarked Chevy Lumina) and I was pulling away like he was tied to a post. He asked if I knew how fast I was going and I said that when I'm going that fast, my eyes are glued to the road, not the speedometer. For reasons that remain a mystery to this day, I didn't get a ticket, just a verbal warning. I was fully prepared to be hauled off to jail.
I'm a lot older and smart now. Even though I own vehicles that have top speeds approaching 200mph, I don't utilize a fraction of that potential.
I have a picture of the speedometer in my 1987 Honda Accord LXi pegged at 118mph. A modern Corolla is probably as fast or faster, so triple digits is believable.
On the other hand, my first car was a 1971 Corolla and it simply would not go any faster than 65-70mph.
In NC you wouldnt get a warning. You would be in handcuffs, taken to jail, and your car or motorcycle auctioned off. Not a good state here to get caught doing stuff. We all did stuff that dangerous, but at the time was the thing to do. I had some friends I lost along the way doing just these things. I use to say I wanted on my head stone concerning motorcycles, I never had fun riding like I had sense.
