We moved.

That's a whole 'nother thread. And it has been. Lots lol.

We drove one pickup truck, and a U-Haul rental.

Now my guy wants to have his old Ford pickup shipped (or hauled or whatever) from NJ to Maine, because after the long trip driving the U-Haul, he realized what a pain it is. (He was originally going to go back with a trailer and bring it up himself.)

It's a 1996 Ford Ranger, not worth much and doesnt look great - but it runs good and keeps him going. He really wants it here so he has his freedom and doesnt have to drive the big Toyota Tundra around all the time. BUT - he's not sure about driving it all those miles to get it here. It's not THAT good

We've been looking up different hauling services, and I wondered if anyone has experience using anything like this.

Thanks very much.

(I guess this is correct in the Auto forum.)

So a beat-up 22-year-old point A to point B vehicle that doesn't old any sentimental value that you've mentioned? It's probably going to cost near as much to ship it as it would cost to just buy a similar replacement.

Contact a trucking company in that area where the ranger is
and see if they have any dead runs to your new area.

Good drive-away candidate, if it's reliable enough not to strand the driver.

Thanks for the replies.

I do have several quotes.

I just wondered if anybody had personally used a service.

I wish he would just buy something here, but he had a mechanic help buy that one and it just keeps on running. We don't know anyone here and really won't know what we are getting. He's not an engine expert.

there is a car moving service where you can bid your move (maybe more than one). a hauler might give you a low price just to fill his truck. can't hurt to try.

figure about $700 to move a car (my estimate, not worth much more than the ink you're reading)

google is free
