They built 31,000+ of them over the years so I would say it was a hit. I don't think you see many because they aren't a daily driver for most of their owners but an extra weekend car stored in the garage.

Nah.....Dealers still have new leftover new ones from years past. A quick glance of Ebay shows plenty of sub 500 mile cars.

How this car stayed around past 1998 or so is beyond me.

I rarely see them in Twin Cities, but I saw a blue/white GTS on Friday go by my house.

It was an awesome car when it first came out. I remember everyone being in awe of that big V10 and the side pipes and the look of the thing. I also remember it having it's own tv show for a couple of years. I remember watching it, but I don't remember what it was about. I think it was trying to be a ripoff of Night Rider or something.

With that being said, I have to agree with Creamer1 when he said "How this car stayed around past 1998 or so is beyond me". I just don't think the sales were ever there. I'm pretty sure that most people with enough money for one would be scared off by Dodge's reputation of making really crappy cars. In fact I would take Creamer's quote one step further and say "How this car company stayed around past about 1998 is beyond me".

God bless Fiat for trying to save them.

the government getting involved has stopped production in 2010 and now again. If the government would quit implementing stupid laws on low volume cars this Viper wouldn`t be going anywhere and the sales have been very good for a while now but doesn't warrant 10`s of millions of dollars for a redesign of the roof because of the government wanting new airbags . One of the most reliable cars out there with a bulletproof drivetrain since 2013. It can easily take a 400shot of nitrous if you`re brave enough and laugh at you. Also the best handling car in the world for under 800k. Many of the limited ones lately have been reselling for 40-60k over sticker and 96-97 blue gts`s have went up 10-15k in the last year. The interior, comfort, etc in them since 2013 is Porsche quality .
