Many people don't understand what a high power car really is. They do stupid things like flooring the gas pedal - not knowing what the torque will do. They go into turns and curves far to fast and loose control - some expecting the car to some how make up for their lack of talent. They don't take time to "acclimate" to powerful cars before just "letting it rip."
Ultimately, for many it is a case of too much money and not enough skill.

Same thing that killed John Denver in his airplane 20 years ago today. He ran out of airspeed, altitude, and ideas, at the same time.
For cars it's running out of traction, room, and ideas all at once.
Not the first one, not the last. Youtube is a good spot for "exotic wrecks" or a similar search by manufacturer.

I read he could not change fuel feed tanks because of a non-standard fuel switch location - on top of that the switch was stiff and hard to manipulate. He flew into the ocean while trying to switch tanks instead of flying the plane. He ran out of gas in one wing, he ran out of the ability to switch tanks, and he ran out of common sense having been told by two check out pilots the change out the switch and not having it done. From 500 feet, there was not time to recover as he reached back over his shoulder to try to manipulate the stuck fuel switch, and unfortunately, just as some drivers will unwittingly turn the steering wheel in the direction that turn their neck, he pressed the rudder in the direction he turned his shoulder.
You must KNOW the beast you are in the belly of - car or plane.
I loved Denver's music. I thought he was a good and charismatic actor. I love the Long-EZ too and hope still to build one.
