PCV valve and hose under intake manifold - Love/hate relationship

Recently my check engine light came on,
I got two codes P0171 and I think the other was P2202
In few words, possibly issues with PCV valve/hose

I do some research and find that the PCV tends to crack over time and has to be replace
When I check to see where it is located ..... Holy crap, it's pretty much inside the intake manifold.

My options
- Pay a mechanic possibly $300-400 to replace it
- Go to the store, buy the PCV hose for $25 and do it myself

I chose option two because I'm stupid, It took a hell lot of work just to finally get to it.

I cursed 100 times the person that placed that cheap crappy hose in that location.
But now it got me thinking
This can be good for me .... Because now I can buy any car with this issue and get me a good deal with an used car.

The PCV hose is the one with the purple connector

There was no way to reach under and turn the PCV to pop out? I'm curious to see what it looks like with the manifold on. Thankfully the one on our Jeep is part of the oil filler and easily accessible. I replaced it for $9 and the hose that was cracked for $25. Jeep uses a hard plastic hose that runs to both banks of cylinders on the V6.

I'll trade you though, just spent $300 for a High Pressure Fuel Pump for my GLI, took 15 minutes to replace but the $ hurt more.

Start watching at min. 0:30 and you'll see the manifold and a few seconds later he shows the location of the PCV valve and hose

Is this the only engine that a 2005 Focus can have, or is it one of several?

This is a classic good DIY job - labor intensive but not needing any special tools. OP, you were being a genius, not an idiot.

I had issues with my idle,
talked to my mechanic, he didn't have time to work on it
so he told me to clean the throttle body and the throttle sensor

Clean it up, idle is perfect now

That's nothing, wait til you get a caddy Northstar needing a starter.
Or a 6.4 rolls into your Bay needing a complete high pressure fuel system and you can't pull the cab off

I liked when the pcv valve was located on the valve cover, use to temove and shake to see if it still rattled then re installed it in 2 min flat, ah long for the good ole days.
