The belt that operates the smog pump also operates the a/c compressor. The clutch on the compressor went out awhile back & now I don't have a belt on the smog pump. I don't want to replace the compressor so I would like to either get a a/c bypass bracket or roll a belt on the smog pump & crank pully. Would anyone happen to know what size belt to get for the smog pump & pully or where I can find a a/c bypass bracket for a 1985 olds delta 88, 307 V-8 ? The smog pump is not adjustable & was told trying to roll a belt on is very hard. I have a smog coming up soon & no smog pump belt =no smog test.

Move here, no smog tests for classics, defined as 25 years old (1992 now). You can get any size belt you need, but you should be able to ask for a non AC smog belt and as long as it's not blocked by the compressor use that. A picture would be helpful. Otherwise, a fabricator could make an adjustable arm to bolt on with a pulley for a longer belt that takes it away from the AC.
Lots of AC clutches can be replaced without disassembly of the AC system. It may actually be cheaper to replace the clutch than to get all the parts needed for a AC delete option. Which I doubt is even made for your car as AC was most likely standard
If you are handy with tools, this is a no brainer. There's one bolt that holds the compressor clutch to the compressor. Remove it, remove the old clutch, install a new one. Put the correct belt on it. Do Not plug the compressor in so nobody can activate it accidentally. Cost for a new clutch is 66 bucks at Rockauto. The compressor will not work but the belt will still go around it. The clutch acts as an idler. Took me about 20 minutes to swap it out on my SILs 1986 model Olds. It's a lot simpler than it looks.
A new a/c clutch for my 85 olds 88 is $129.00 + tax @ autozone. It is $220.00 @ a local parts store. I don't see why a belt cant be rolled on. The belt has to go around the crank, water pump & smog pump pully. I checked out rockauto & found no a/c clutch. Can anyone find it for me ? Thanks for the help.
Go on eBay and pick up a compressor from a salvage company. $40-60 for a used, working compressor is far better than a delete pulley for the same cost and effort. The R4 compressor went into millions of vehicles.
