No, they don't.

Manufacturers make money by designing their cars to accommodate the widest variety of options among the most trim levels possible, whether a person chooses that option or not. It's cheaper for them to do it this way.

The ONLY exceptions to this are commonly found on high end sports cars. My Porsche 911 turbo is one of them. It comes from the factory with a sunroof, standard. The option is there to delete the sunroof. This isn't a matter of just not cutting the hole in the roof for a sports car. The people who choose that option are looking to track their cars. By going with the non-sunroof option, Porsche installs a thinner, lighter roof, and it gives them an extra 1.2 inches of headroom so they can wear a helmet inside the car easier.

Even cars today that have a panoramic roof option are no different than the sunroof cars. The cross beams are still in the same place on the roof, except they're just covered in glass and not sheet metal.
Sigh. Yes they do. Try asking a design engineer.

By all means, ask a "design engineer" so they can laugh at you.

Default I thought I posted what happened.....

Sorry...this is a tad late...nearly two years lol...

Well we got our money back and contract was voided. Ended up getting a Toyota Highlander with everything. Got a letter from the dealer trying to get my business back but passed on it.
