Yeah. For fun, I do German or American and then dump quickly.

For keeps, I bought a Toyota.

I was a teen when the Detroit auto companies and the UAW more or less ruined the US auto industry. By young adulthood (early 1980s), I was settled on a decision: never buy Detroit. Both sides had their complicity in the decline. By 1990, I bought my first car: a Toyota pickup.

I'm still driving it.

Paid my dues on Ford/Chevy/Chrysler products, for the past 20 years i've had only Japanese cars, reliability is the main reason for my patronage to Toyota.

Another self-perpetuating fallacy of the inbred Consumer Reports "community."

You are too right, it's better than "a car!" I love my Prius! 2010 model year and, other than replacing the small battery that powers the electronics 2 years ago, trouble-free.

Who responds most to consumer reports polls? Those who believe in their evaluations. It is a self perpetuating echo chamber. Toyota owners tell consumer reports Toyotas are the best cars ever, so consumer reports says Toyotas are the best cars ever, that makes toyota owners love consumer reports and Toyota all the more so they report their love in the pools once again. Is all silly.

I discovered about a decade ago consumer reports is mostly hogwash, not just with cars, but with most things. It took me a couple of decades of relying on them to come to my senses.

Yeah, I have to admit it, consumer reports is mostly hogwash, especially when you buy with long term reliability in mind, which they can't really test in a lot of their products. I'd rather go by the number of 1 star reviews on amazon for most purchases and read what they say.

With that said, my 2012 Camry has a nasty rattle in the moonroof that they refused to fix 7 months out of warranty with 24K miles on the car. Price to pay for buying used, but don't say Toyotas are flawless.

It only took me a couple of hours. I worked in a Library so I could go over several years of their magazines. This was more than 25 or more years ago. The bias was clear. I never trusted them ever.

I just read another report from England. The top cars with the most problems. Lexus was on the list.

Here is another list of worse:

I'm surprised the Q70 made the list honestly, I thought a Honda/Ac or Hyundai product would make the list.
