Normally I've just gone with the manufacturer recommendation, which on many of my cars has been Mobil 1.

I now own a modified car with an aftermarket supercharger that gets fairly regular track use, and have decided to try Motul 8100 due to good reviews and specs.

What's your favorite, and why?

I stick with Motorcraft since all my cars (with one exception) are Ford's. I know of course that Ford doesn't actually make their own oil. But i've never had oil issues since my first car in 83.

I use Castrol High Mileage 10 W 30 on my 1993 Nissan truck. I used Castrol GTX from it's first oil change and then at 100,000 miles I changed to Castrol High Mileage. I also use only Purolator PureONE oil filters on it. 200,000+ miles later, it looks like it's paying off. The truck still runs like new.

I use Toyota synthetic 0 W 20 oil in my 2017 Corolla and Toyota oil filters.

BTW, the racing industry DOES NOT use the same mobil 1 you buy off the shelf, true racing oils do not contain detergents a racing engine is typically rebuilt long before any issues with deposit build up occur. Also, racing oils are usually not multigrades, they are straigt weight oils....

While not ask about often syn oil's ability to accept high shear loads, high temp handling as well as internal engine cleaning ability, is the key advantage to syn oil over mineral oil. These reasons also determine all break-in clearance which is why it's important to stay with one brand of oil for longer engine life.

Whatever the cheapest (at walmart) name-brand synthetic in the weight I want. Often Pennzoil, sometimes Mobil-1.

I got Motul on Amazon for $8 a quart, not that bad for a car that will be pushed on the track.

use the best oil you can afford. i have used penzzoil, castrol, valvoline, mobile one, among other name brands, and found that they are all pretty good oils for most vehicles, even ones that see track time as well as street time. as long as the oil meets or exceeds manufacturers specs, then you are good to go.

the real key here is how often you are changing this oil. since you are seeing track time with this engine, you want to be changing this oil more often than is recommended, on the order of every 2-3000 miles AT MOST.

Depends on the car’s requirements. Mobil One can be great in some cars and bad for others.
