Probably going after former CR-V owners who the kids are older now and they want more space so that doesn't seem like a bad idea to me. Actual SUVs, what's left of them, are still boxes. Least boxy is the Infiniti QX80. It's still mostly a box but does have the droopy/swoopy front end.
The large crossovers are just minivans with hinged rear doors purchased by people who somehow wouldn't be caught dead in a minivan but are fine in the same car with hinged rear doors.

Yikes. Let's see how can we make this PU uglier. Challenge accepted.

Give me the old school boxy, such as the smaller and narrow 70's era IH Scout II or the original Ford Bronco. Or my favorite is the large 78/79 Ford Bronco which takes the rounded corners just right in styling.

I wish these manufactures would bring back the real truck based (yes I know there are a few with 4 doors) SUV with 2 doors and a tailgate. IMO the styling of modern full sized pickups is nice so I'd imagine a shorter wheelbase, 2 door SUV with removable top based off one would look good, have plenty of room and be usable, a true multi purpose vehicle!

Totally agree.

Like my old Bronco II or my 90's Bronco.

Wanted a Honda Element but it was a first year model and not cheap so I went with Scion.

I just gave up my Scion XB mail truck box. LOVED IT.

I went with a Kia Soul, now. Don't have nearly the clear sightlines out the back that I had with the Scion.

I wish they’d bring back the Grand Wagoneer. Loved those.

Thank you for posting this.

Great visibility.

Don't want any of the new ones. Too stupid looking with sloping roofs and smaller rear/side windows. Dumb.

I love my 2005 AWD Durango. The cargo area is big enough to toss our skis & ski boots in -- and it never gets stuck. I've passed numerous Escalades & Expeditions that are stuck.

You mean to say “not very practical for carrying big things”. It carries everything I need.
Even the Post Office uses them.
