You're talking about popularity. I was just saying that there is a sizeable group of people still buying them.

My superficial wife absolutely refuses to drive a minivan and hauls our kids around in our Lexus rx350.

However, I'm 100% certain if Lexus took the Sienna, slapped the Lexus badge on it, put the ugly big Lexus predator face grill and some superficial cabin refinement and jack up the price she would have no problems driving one. Image matters to her more than practicality, which is why the majority of american families choose a crossover when a minivan is way more practical.

I agree 100%. A Lexus minivan would be extremely popular around here.

They just debuted the 3 row Lexus Rx 350 at the recent LA auto show. Now my wife wants to upgrade her regular rx350 to one. I'm sure the 3 row Rx350 would sell great, but a Lexus minivan would sell like hotcakes around where I live (North Shore of Long Island).

A 2018 Chrysler Pacifica with hybrid/all electric mode, all wheel drive, 360 cam, seatback entertainment system, 8 seats, vacuum cleaner, etc. etc. is going to be as luxurious as most people could wish for, and the price tag is up there. Maybe it wouldn't reach the level of a Lexus but anyway the standards for minivans are rising.

Definitely. I know a few people who would take a Lexus 350-series van, or even better a hybrid for a few thousand more.

A friend of mine who has enough children to field a baseball team drives a Sprinter, upgrading to a newer model when the wind assist and 4x4 debuted, and it's a luxury conversion in passenger form. It's a true statement vehicle, that they use when the entire family travels together. It works well, but his wife is considering a Metris for around town if it could be luxurious enough, since she sometimes only has four children with her, but she'd pounce on a Lexus-badged Sienna with some extra sound deadening, better stereo, wood, etc.
