Honda makes the best cvt hands down. Nissan’s jatco made cvt is the worst!

They remind me of the golf cart that I had when I lived in Arizona. It was licensed and street legal.

Pros: some are decent

Cons: some are horrible

Depends on the car.

I've changed the drive belts on Subaru CVTs and while it ain't fun, it is a lot easier than rebuilding a typical auto trans...which was my specialty.

I’ve had so many die hard Subaru fans say their Outback, Legacy, etc CVTs are very good. How long do those Subaru CVTs last? I would expect/need any CVT to last 200k miles these days.

I'm on my 3rd vehicle with a CVT and have had no issues. I like it.

Yeah, I have the Maxima with the CVT, and its great with the V6. My Maxima is faster, and more fuel efficient then a charger with a comparable engine, and an 8- speed transmission that I actually like. We also have a 16 civic with the 1.5t, and love that car too, it's much faster than comparable cars, and the gas mileage is unbelivable.

When CVTs can last 200-300k miles, I will think about it. Until then, I will stick to what works.

If CVT would be faster the sports cars would have it....yet they don't!

My experience with the last rented Maxima (with CVT) was awful when compared to the BMW335 (even the VW Passat with dual clutch transmission had a much better response).
I think my last Maxima from 20 years ago ('95) had a better response although only a 3L at the time.

I don't think a Maxima, and 335 are necessarily in the same category. I think a Q50 red sport. I am kind of excited to see what Nissan does with their new VC-Turbo engine will they all use CVTs, 7- speed, or will they update them with more gears. I have nothing against the 335, but it feels like lately everyone's been complaining about the sporty feel that has gone missing in the 335 lol its just funny you mention it.
