Usually driven by bald old guys that try to insert "the Vette" into as many sentences as possible!
Hey did you watch the Superbowl?
Yeah, I took the Vette to the supermarket and got beer and chips and put them in the Vette. Then I took the Vette by my buddy's house to drop off the food/beer then shot back to my house in the Vette to get cleaned up because I got to look as good as the Vette! So since the weather looked good I took the Vette back to my buddy's house to watch the game. I only had one beer because that Vette has a lot of power and it could get away from you if your not careful! I'll probably wash and wax the Vette next weekend!
I never really liked the Vette or the Mustang. I am a Euro snob but I must admit even Porsche and BMW have lost their luster quite a bit lately they make too many cars and SUV, losing their reputation for quality.
Thanks for all the feedback everyone, keep it coming!
I'm not in a hurry to purchase, so I'm taking my time and test driving several options. I drove a few this past weekend and am leaning towards the Corvette. I'm going to drive a few more options before I make the decision.
While I know that some cars are faster with the automatic transmission than with the manual version, the automatics can't compete with the "fun to drive" factor for me. This is subjective as it is a personal preference, but I wouldn't consider an automatic at this time. Since this car won't be my daily driver, I'm not worried about sitting in traffic.

Then just don't get and early C6. Too many troubles. Clutch, roof, dead batteries. 2006 and newer you should be fine.
Neither. Save yourself a bunch of money and get a Miata. Pound for pound - dollar for dollar more fun than you can shake a stick at. Probably more reliable too.
These days, the "blue collar Ferrari" is a pickup truck. Sports cars, GT cars and even muscle cars have become niche products, appealing more to enthusiasts than to those eager to produce a certain kind of image. This is why this thread's emerging squabble is all the more unfortunate. Whether we're driving a Hyundai Genesis or a Porsche 911 Turbo, or anything in between, there's a kinship among all of these cars... the 2-door, RWD car (as opposed to truck) aimed at the driver, as opposed to passenger-conveyance or cargo.
The problem is this: The Corvette's audience is getting old.
Actually, that's not the best way to describe the problem. The real problem is that GM hasn't been able to attract younger buyers to the Corvette, despite years of trying.
According to figures from market-research firm Strategic Vision, the median age of a Corvette buyer is now 61 years old. That's up from 54 years old a decade ago.
It's the same crowd, in other words. The same folks who were buying Vettes a decade ago are the ones buying them now. They're getting older, and soon they'll be hitting the point in life where a low-slung, hard-riding sports car doesn't make sense."
