Hello all..I am looking to buy a Maserati perhaps in a year or 2. Ive always wanted one since I was a child; and now, well, that I am older, I want to buy one ha ha!

Anyhow, the Maserati will NOT be a daily driver, it will just be a weekend car when my wife and I go out or something - I tend to stick to Japanese cars for daily drivers.

However, ive heard Maserati's are the more reliable version of luxury cars. I only plan to keep it for a few years (till it hits around 80 90k miles) then decide if I should sell it or keep it.

from research I have been discovering, people are reporting 100k+ miles on Maserati's with no issues. maybe some small stuff here and there but they have solid engines and transmission.

Any one ever owned them with no major issues?

Every exotic car has a certain amount of maintenance and repair cost built into every square foot. They may be dependable in the beginning, but when something does happen, you aren't talking about taking it to your local garage for repairs. Even the most menial service can get into very serious money.

But, if you can afford the car, you should be able to afford the upkeep. Joe Average shouldn't own one.

It gets a 1/5 (the worst) in Consumer Reports reliability ratings. Ranked 20/20 in Luxury Midsize. You decide.

It doesn't take a genius to understand that owning an expensive high performance exotic car is not anywhere like owning a regular car. I know a guy who bought a new Jag, and the first tune up/oil change was $1000. Things have to be removed to gain access to inaccessible areas, and sometimes the engine has to be dropped to change things.

If someone is asking about reliability and they are thinking of owing one of these cars, they do not need to think about buying one. The people who buy and can afford them are in a totally different league than the majority of us. The initial cost is only the beginning of the story.

They are beautiful, but I'd get a Corvette. Lots of grey hairs drive them.
