This will be the last car I ever buy, as it will last 30 years and over 10,000,000 miles!

Two Honda dealers near me are offering weird warranties that are valid at all Honda dealers nationally.

Clawson Honda of Fresno has free lifetime engine warranties on all of its cars:

https://www.clawsonhonda.com/engine-life-warranty/

And for this month only, internet purchasers also get a free lifetime transmission warranty. The price they are offering for a new car is a few thousand dollars higher than other dealers though.

And nearby Selma Honda offers a 200,000 mile bumper-to-bumper warranty:

Should I get these since I will never have to buy another car again? Are these warranties available even if I don't but at these two dealers, or do I have to go there? They sound a lot better than a genuine Honda Care 8 year/120,000 mile VSC extended warranty. I drove my last car 300,000 miles in 10 years. So if I get the lifetime engine and transmission warranty, will I be set for life, other than the $100 deductible, and other parts not in the engine or transmission? This sounds like a heck of a deal! New engine or transmission whenever mine fails!

MOST(from my experience) vehicles die due to structural or steering/suspension hardware issues when the engine and transmission are working fine.

You really need to read the fine print for these warranties. There are many clauses which will void said warranty if maintenance is not followed by the book at the dealer. Read the fine print and then decide if it is worth it.

Read it carefully as "Life" in many cases does not mean "as long as the car and you are around." In many cases
"life" is defined as "the generally accepted life expectancy" as in, "we expect the life of this car to be 150,000 miles."

In other words, nail them down on the legal meanings of:
  • Life
  • Maintenance Period
...as it looks like they have already somehow defined 'life' as 200K miles. What else aren't they telling you?

Read the fine print even in their add. All those items are cover “if damage day the failure of an internally lubricated part.” Guess what? That leaves out a lot of failures. For example, a cylinder head cracks due to a factory defect after 100,000 miles. Not covered. A spark plug pops out taking the threads with it - not covered. Radiator leaks causing it to overheat and seize up - not covered.

I didn't even see this part, they are already weaseling (IMO). I would say that this warranty probably isn't worth the ink it takes to print it out. Well, maybe it's worth a little more.

Thank you everyone. You helped me not make a mistake and get this then!

I still would like to get the genuine Honda Care extended warranty though for 8 years/120,000 miles, since does cover mostly everything. It is almost bumper-to-bumper. It only costs $1,335 with no deductibles!

Well, I was. Things are up in the air. The choice is between a 2018 Honda Odyssey EX or a new 2017 Toyota Sienna LE with a $3,500 rebate for 2017 leftovers. I regret not buying when I had a fabulously low offer for 2017 Sienna LE in January. Now I can't get anything near that.

I could go with Honda for 10 months and then trade it in for a 2018 Sienna LE in January though when the $3,500 will be available again and with a bigger selection of LE's then. If you trade a Honda in, you break even.

My '85 Corolla ate struts for dinner. There was a chain that guaranteed its after-market struts for life, and I went in every year and got them changed for free. They actually do honor their guarantee, no questions asked.
