CLK 550 or 500 Mercedes Benz. Very Good Deals are out there. This one has it all!
most of BMWs convertibles are good to go.
The Mini is a pretty good choice as well. Closest thing to a Miata , but with seating for 4.
I have a Mini and you’re spot on the closest thing to a 4 seat Miata. I’m now trying to get rid of it but there’s nothing really similar out there.
I'd suggest the Infiniti G37/Q60 but you will have to make due with the fact the car has no usable trunk if you intend to ever put the top down. Like literally useless. 2 cubic feet.
BMW 4 Series would be the most versatile choice for its size. I don't love it- but it's one of the few fuller sized convertibles.
Mercedes or Audi are the soft tops of the bunch. Quality cars though.
Kid friendly aside, I have an S5 Cabriolet and it’s got a fair amount of room in the back seat and the trunk, even with the top down. Zero problems in 3 years of ownership.

Your choices are not entirely kid friendly.
Mercedes’ interior prior to 2017 looks like something an old lady would design. Love the 80’s style number pad next to the radio. 2017’s and up actually looks like a 21st century interior.

There are a handful of two seat roadsters out there now. Alpha had one at the NAIAS. There were three others I have not seen before as well. I do not remember which brands. The Alpha stuck out because it was so tiny and a bit bizzarre looking.

I meant as in a 4 seater that feels like a roadster. That’s tricky to pull off.
Need some advice on which way to go. I originally wanted a Miata ND ST manual Club with Brembo/BBS but my wife has vetod the option.
New criteria
- 4 seat convertible (room for an infant car seat)
- 2012 or Newer
- Budget $20-$35k
- blend of luxury and performance
My preference is something lighter with a hardtop and manual but am flexiable on these. I would prefer options like heated and ventilated Seats but also flexible. Also a strong preference for V8 or V/I6.
My initial inclination are the following options:
BMW 435i or 440i
235i or 240i
Merc E350 or E550
Audi S5
Camaro 2SS (‘16 or newer)
Mustang GT
Older 911 (997.1 as the .2 is out of budget)
Any other suggestions? Not sure Japan even makes an option and never liked the Solaras. I really would have loved a Miata older Boxster or bass Jag Ftype just doesn’t meet the wife’s criteria.
Car seat in a convertible? LOL I hope your wife has the "family" vehicle!?Car seats are hard enough is a regular compact car, good luck in a convertible!!

I wouldn’t be able to fit car seats in a Mini if it wasn’t a convertible. Getting the roof out of the way makes everything much easier.
I can't relate to someone who says, "My WIFE WON"T LET ME...", as my wife doesn't get to choose what I drive, and I don't tell her what she can drive either. For a car enthusiast, it's just too personal a decision to let someone else make.
I'm driving the Miata. It's the most fun car I've ever driven since the original VW bug. Won't give that up, ever. Second best choice, as already mentioned, A Mini with 4 seats. Just keep in mind that REAL CARS have two seats, everything else is a bus!
