I drive a 2016 Lexus ES 350; the epitome of quality I suppose and yet I have this annoying crunch coming from the rear right every time I go over a bump. It doesn't happen all the time, only when I am at an angle, like turning into the driveway. Not sure if it is a body flex issue or the suspension. Mentioned it once to the dealer but didn't find anything. Anyway, one thing you expect from a luxury car, Lexus no less, is a solid body free from creaks and squeaks.

If the dealer couldn't find it, how do you expect us to?

Not to be rude but drive it until something breaks then you'll know, what's wrong with your car. Don't worry. It will get bad enough that it will be easier to find next time you have it at the dealers.

Whoa, grumpy people. My trunk makes a clunk noise when I turn a certain way every now and then. My mechanic couldn't figure it out either. But, since he checked everything and everything was fine, and it's been driving without anything breaking for 2 1/2 years now, I don't worry about it.

My new mechanic, when making a list of things that I might want to replace at some point, mentioned the shocks aren't great. So, I was wondering if it was related to the shocks, maybe. Of course, my truck is a 93 Nissan, so it makes sense that it could be an old part.

But, yeah, I have the same kind of thing and got the same response from my mechanic.

Maybe you could just ask them to check all the fluids or whatever might need to be lubed? I'm no mechanic. Just someone who has driven used vehicles most of my life, so I have learned to recognize noises and car behavior and how it relates to certain parts, etc., over the years.

One guess is the torsion bar bushings or something. As for the dealer, I have to push it. They want to get rid of you as fast as they can. The hardest problem new car dealers have diagnosed is sticking seat belts.

My truck makes a crunch noise when I go over speed bumps. Two dealers and my trusty shade tree mechanic could not find it.

One day in the garage, I started messing with things and I found it. The spare tire mount does not hold the spare completely right anymore and makes a crunching noise at the center of the wheel. I’ve come to ignore the noise.

After checking the obvious parts (shocks, shock fasteners, springs and fasteners wheels etc) try taking everything out of the trunk. Absolutely everything. Spare, jack, fix a flat, flashlight, etc. absolutely everything. See if it goes away. Don't forget to put the spare and jack back in

ColdJensons.

As usual, your advice is on point. Too many loose things in the trunk....will contribute to those mystery noises.

the dealer couldnt find it probably because they cant replicate the noise. if you have a place near the dealer that you can create the noise, take the service writer with you on a test drive, and try and replicate the noise so they can hear it.
