One of the things I do when test driving cars is find an empty road and swing thee steering from right to left and back a few times to test stability.

The only car I've ever done that with that has scared the cr#p out of me was a Mitsubishi. I don't remember the model (sedan), but we have never gone back to look at another one.

A lot in the media is panning the new Eclipse crossover coming out, maybe it's lame that they have chosen to resurrect that name for a crossover BUT at least it doesn't look as unappealing from the outside as the Outlander. Just personal opinion but I pretty much haven't liked the styling of any SUV they have designed since the original Montero...I'm guessing Dodge probably had a heavy hand in that exterior design.

Outlander just has weak styling...not a popular vehicle here. The only ones I have noticed around have had out of state plates.

There is a local Mitsubishi dealer (in backwater Maine). He has had great luck with the brand for 15 years. Tons of Outlanders around here, and they last a long time. (I don't have a Mitsu).

Mitsubishi engines used to be bad about burning oil, it used to be common to see them with blue smoke coming from the tailpipe. I’m pretty sure their engines didn’t help Chrysler and Hyundai’s reputation either since many of their cars used them.

I literally had to junk my Mitsubishi - even though it ran fine- no one wanted it. It was an 01, nice paint job...but the parts were expensive and usually when it broke down it was a major part. I would never own one again.

My brother had to accept a really low price when he dumped his Mitsu Galant because almost nobody wanted that make and model.

Why was he dumping it?
Because it had become extremely unreliable after just 5 years of use, the local mechanics didn't want to deal with it, and the dealership had no clue regarding how to repair the car's engine problems.

So you drove one unremarkable car and you think that all of them are like that, including the Evos and turbo Eclipses and Galant VR4s and 3000 GTs... A friend does track days in his turbo Eclipse AWD and it doesn't seem to have a problem with stability...
