The trucker must have just started out moments before, as there was little backward shifting of the canola cargo from gravity and road vibration. The load seemed to be still fairly uniformly balanced front to back. The whole idea of the lift is to send the load tumbling out the back.

There's only so much you can do to make a truck idiot proof. The rest sort of just has to come, I guess, on a case by case basis. Because it's not always easy to predict how people are going to screw up. There've been airline pilots who forgot to put the landing gear down, amazingly enough.

It's called momentum. One of the most powerful explosive forces on Earth. I'd say he hit the bridge doing about 65 mph.

When you raise an end-dump trailer, you often must pull forward a few feet while raised to allow all of the material to clear the main pile.

I drive a truck and will tell you that too. Trucking has become a microcosm of the whole country. Used to be great but pretty much gone to the toilet now.

This might just be one of those freak accidents though. They don't usually let rookies anywhere near end dump trailers or long nosed Petes.

I don't care if it was filmed from a moving tricycle. My hat off to the driver for getting the video!

The Quebec Highway Code reform currently under consideration includes a measure requiring the presence of a warning light inside trucks when a truck’s trailer is raised, which is not currently the case, the department said.

Sûreté du Québec accident investigators and accident reconstruction specialists will try to determine how the accident occurred, to find out if the driver of the truck was negligent or whether the truck’s trailer raised by itself due to a mechanical breakage.

The Sûreté du Québec says it received a video showing the accident, but it was impossible to know if the driver who filmed it is exposed to sanctions since the video was made by a person who appears to be driving a vehicle while holding the device used to film, probably a cellphone.
