They’re all built on a truck frame from what I understand.

Because only a truck frame can handle all the weight of the armor plating and electronics gear.

Thats kind of weird he rides around in a limo with a pickup truck frame. Anytime I see presidents of other countries riding in cars, its usually a Mercedes Benz car, but its never super modified, just looks like a regular model, some of the time, not even that large.

The current one was built on a medium-duty GMC truck frame.

Actually, these manufactures offer what's called "diplomat" or "security" packages which are beefed up versions just made to look like an off the lot model. For the average person, they look just like a standard vehicle, which is the whole point. Just like the current L-1,2 and 3 are designed to "look" like a Cadillac limousine, that is only for appearance sake.

Say what you want about Trump, but at least he has sense enough not to ride around in a Ford.

I have a friend who was a Marine Force Recon and he’s a SWAT guy now. If you look at him he really is about as intimidating as a kitten. Really mellow dude. Very nonthreatening. So if you went by looks........

None of the cars carrying presidents are anywhere near regular cars. Obama’s car was built on a truck chassi also. About the only thing that could carry that weight. I remember a story where his limo got stuck on a driveway and they had to bring some huge bulldozer to get it off.

rab is right, the limos that world leaders ride around in are deceiving if you only go by looks, they are usually heavily armored, including glass that can stop large caliber rifle rounds, armored tires, etc.

That happened in Dublin. Per the Secret Service, it was the backup limo. Due to it's length, it high centered on the sidewalk:
