Hey folks I need some advice on a good dash cam for parking mode. There have been some incidents where i park my car, and I would like to see who is doing it hopefully.

I see alot of people like the Thinkware F800, but that system will run me close to $500. Any less expensive alternatives that will still work? Do these units need to be hardwired in order to function on parking mode?

Thanks for the tips in advance!

Don't take this wrong but you have to be some kind of special brand of stupid to spend that kind of money on one of those. You can buy 2 High Def cameras and not spend 100 bucks. I paid less than 30 bucks for mine and it records in Hi Def, day and night. The night is crystal clear and in hi def. The 8Gb card records up to 2 hours and rolls over. You might need a unit with a larger card capacity or records in 720. I'd rather have 2 than one. You can mount both in the same location or at another location if it helps see better. I have mine on the power outlet we used to call the cigarette lighter. I can turn it off or just let it run. It doesn't use much battery. Do the research, find a unit that records in Hi Def both day and night, and see what the capacity is and what size card you need for how much time you think you need.

It's not clear whether the OP's car is getting hit while it's parked overnight or if someone is doing something else to the car overnight. Either way, I wouldn't count on a camera that rolls over every two hours will satisfy the need--what happens if someone hits the car at midnight, it's recorded on the camera, and the OP doesn't get to the car until 8:00 in the morning? Gone, right?

Still, we might have a better idea if we know what kind of incidents are happening.
