The XKR which began production in 1998 was available with a supercharger. That is, however, fairly recent to be described as a "vintage Jaguar." Older ones were probably retrofitted, though.
XKR was an entirely different car than the original XKE, for example a V8 instead of a V6 engine. The old V6 double overhead camshaft engine was a classic whizzer that drove the Le Mans D-Type cars, the XK120, 140, 150 and the original XKE.
There are not many concours-quality E-Type Jaguars, and this one is unique among those few with a bespoke power plant.
I do not care for plug-in electric cars, as I like the freedom to drive 500 miles or 1000 miles without long waits to recharge the batteries. But for Harry it should be fine, as I can't see him driving from England to the South of France or the Adriatic Coast.
Edit: Jaguar did have some unassigned vehicle numbers which they recently used to build a handful of new E-Type Jags.

I see no problem with any of it. The original motor might be sitting in storage and could be back in, but why? That car will just hang around Windsor anyway, but someone said it was rented? Don't know. Whatever, it was the perfect car because it was quiet and appropriate for the occasion.

I also own a vintage Jag and the sweet rumble of the exaust and the light whine of the supercharger is music to the ears of anyone who loves cars.
Dude, get a Prius or a Volt...that's going a little far with the "green" crap
I think he was looking for something that looked cool but could actually be expected to start.
