My family has been in the car business for years and German cars are way overrated. The dealers tended to get rid of them versus suffering the headaches of trying to keep them running and the angry returning customers. Funny when I was in Germany they all drove German cars. It's ok for them to be Patriotic, But not us?
Your family must be in the used car business. Many Germans don’t own cars and would never buy one. They also drive cars made in France and all over the EU, anything that’s reasonably priced and gets good gas mileage. Gas prices are $6.45 per gallon now. I have never encountered a German that is patriotic over a car.
I think people need to understand Trump's style of negotiating. He says the most absurd things in order to get around to something mutually agreeable. He has no intentions of banning German or any other car but he does want something in return.
ETA: Others start off asking for what they want but end up getting far less. Demand the outrageous and negotiate down to what you really want all the while having your opponent think they got a good deal.
