Are you really trying to suggest that a Toyota or Lexus NEVER needs a repair EVER?
Aw, shucks ma'am, ya got me!

Actually, I never did fix any of them between 10 and 15 years, but of course it can happen.
The Lexi were rolled over before any repairs over $100.
The '98 Camry V6 LE went until summer of 2016 when I blew out the radiator trying to chase down a Maserati ..? or something, on I -95. Yeah, that was real smart, I know.
But the shocks were shot and the engine mounts iffy so I got my newest baby, the RC 350 F-Sport in Nov of that year.
I'll report back in 2026 to update the status.

Can’t judge whether the car was good or bad by the used purchase. You dont know how it was driven or maintained.

I've had ZERO ISSUES with four KIAs. One Spectra, three Souls.

Routine maintenance is needed. Check the oil. Use factory filters. Follow factory maintenance recommendations, i.e. O&F at 5000 miles or so.

I haven't put any oil in it since I got it, I just check it and get it changed when I have to. So my car at least has been 100% trouble free apart from safety recalls I didn't have to pay for. With the way its holding up across the board, I plan on keeping it until its at least 12 years old, maybe 16.
That Hyundai engine was known for oil problems and engine seizing. I had a pre 90s Chevy and '99 Chevy that never used oil much and never leaked oil. The engine and trans on them were bullet proof, although I had maintenance done. I'd just check car complaints. com to research specific models and check out potential problems. But cars today seem better built than ever.
Now this I wonder about: I have a 4 year old quart of 5 w 20 Castrol in my garage, unopened. Is it past its shelf life?
No worries, that oil was removed from its 500 million year store locker and will be good we'll past your personal use by date.

If you have your heart set on a specific year make and model of used car try to resist buying the cheapest specimen you can find. On the other hand I would do this if I was buying a brand new car.
