I need a spare key for my 2015 Mustang. I saw I can buy fobs online, but I do not know how to program myself. I saw somewhere that I can program it myself.
Is this true? If so, is it easy? Or do I definitely need to go to dealership to get spare?
I see that the article said that I need 2 programmed keys. I only have 1 key. Is it still possible to do it myself? Or do I have to go to the dealership?

I just asked someone who has a 15. He said you have to have TWO fobs or it wont work. The computer needs 2 to verify programming before a 3rd one can be programmed. He had a locksmith do his, said it cost him 40 bucks.

Locksmith for his 3rd key? Or was it a 2nd key they did?
One of my cars is an 04 Mustang, and I never had a fob for it when I got it. One day I found one in a wreck at a junkyard, and my son looked on line and followed the instructions of how to reprogram it to work the locks and all. Works perfect, and all we had to do was turn the key so many times and some other stuff.
However, I needed one for my Caddy, and it has to go to the dealer for a $200 reprogramming. I guess every car is different.

I did it when I lost a DEA fob (for a Nissan). But I still had the other DEA fob—the instructions clearly stated that I had to have one on hand. I also programmed the two Nissan fobs that I also had. It took a few tries to get it right but I would not call it difficult, just finicky. YMMV.

We replaced the key fob for my 02' Honda buying from keylessoption on Amazon. Easy set up....worked easy, peasy. Inexpensive! we paid like 25.00....
