Is it just me, or do any of you still see these cars strolling along on a daily basis?

Every day, I can count a hand full of these cars being driven everywhere I go. It doesn't matter what neighborhood, what part of the city I am in, even on the freeway, these little damn things are still going strong!!

What gives? Why are so many still on the road? I don't think I have ever seen a make or model of car that is over 20 years old and being driven as a daily driver by somebody.

Are they that good of little car? Because I know nothing about Corolla's, nor I am familiar with their drivetrain, but it seems to me their engines and trans are robust for its age.

The majority of these cars now look like hand me downs or 4-5 owner cars since they all look like crap. Paint peeling all over the place, or a mixture of different paint on the car, missing hubcaps, bumpers different colors, trim missing, what have you, but besides for the exterior shortcomings, these little buggers are chugging along and refuse to die.

Their owners refuse to let them go too.

I worked with a lady back in the late 90’s that had a 95 Corolla just like the one in that pic, hers was a stick shift. I still see her driving that same car today, the paint is worn on the roof and hood, but it seems to be running strong.

If you look for something, you'll start seeing it. Every time I have been shopping for a particular model, all of a sudden it seemed everybody was driving one.

Very plain looking car that I don't pay any attention to but Toyota's and Hondas are made well with good materials and last better than most other cars.

Maybe it's a California thing. I haven't seen one of those in probably 5 years or more, and I visit stores in the rough part of town.

I owned a 1999. It was the first nonjunker I ever owned. Very basic but solid as a rock. Traded it in on a 2001 Outback because we needed a bit more size. Pretty sure it is still running.
