Being able to drive a vehicle with a manual transmission is a basic life skill like reading, swimming, riding a bicycle, graduating high school, etc. You can get through life without it... but you're basically choosing to be handicapped.

In the coming years of infrastructure decay, hydropneumatic suspensions will become indispensable.

If you drive a giant diesel pickup in a non-commercial application, odds are you're 'compensating' for something. Maybe you're lacking in personality... maybe elsewhere.

However if you have 'truck nuts' on that giant diesel pickup, I can't help but respect that. You may be a giant douche... but at least you're owning it

If you drive a relatively new Prius, it's a fashion statement.

However if you drive an *old* prius and it still functions well, you've got some serious nerd-cred.

Other than that whole 'burning to death' thing, the Ford Pinto was a pretty good vehicle for its time.

Interesting you mention roofs and windows.

The 1960 Cadillac was available with 4 roof types (see photo).

BTW, thanks for spelling "grille" correctly.

How basic are you talking?

You do realize that your big, dumb ego-machine aggravates the rest of us, right? Pickups are slow, handle poorly and generally suck compared to cars. End of story.

And yet, pickups serve a purpose and many people simply LIKE them. Like my kid and his LS swapped '79 stepside Chevy pickup. Slow it is definitely not, though we all know it's no Corvette in the handling department (yet), And it doesn't have to be! That's the part YOU just can't figure out. They don't HAVE to be sports cars to be viable transportation devices. My Suburban is definitely no sports car, but it tows my 9500 lb travel trailer just fine. Something no Corvette can do. (and talk about ego machines, most sports cars are driven slowly on the street, not rapidly on the track... my 330ci convertible, as fun as it is, is much more of an ego machine than my trucks are).

Yes, and the styling of every one of those rooflines is period specific. The details of the trim and forms are not going to be found in other eras.
