My 69 Cougar, my aunt bought it new and gave it to me my freshman year of college...had it from 85 until I sold it in 93. It was just a base model, but still equipped pretty nice, 351W 2B, FMX, center console, AC, black vinyl roof, dark ivy metallic body with black interior, and those dog dish hubcaps, which I kept and added trim rings.
Only good thing is it's still around, guy I sold it to was going to redo it as his uncle had bought a very similar one in 69 also....
Where I grew up, my neighbor had one and it was nice..I think you can get one refurbished for 25-30K
.... would you love to own again? I don’t care if you sold it, traded it, wrecked it or lost in a divorce. Call it the day before that act occurred. You found it again, in a climate controlled facility, cared for by an army of master mechanic trolls and while its older, it’s in at least as good of shape as the day before last time you saw it.
What, why, when and where? Pictures of it or even the same from the ‘net are welcomed also. I know some of you kind folks have some great stories and I’d love to hear them.
1965 Impala SS 2 DR.
I'd have gotten a 400 for it, done a nifty air intake and then had it as a show vehicle...But didn't have the $15K to do it...
God those trunks were massive, I could have stashed 4-5 200 lb bodies in it....
1) for weekend fun driving, the 1957 MB 300SL roadster.
2) for touring, the 1971 MB 280SL
3) as a daily driver, the 1971 MB 250C with a manual 4-speed trans. Functional, comfortable interior, good truck space, decent fuel economy and performance. A very easy car to drive in traffic or on the highway.
I recently sold a '69 that I owned for 25 years and just never really did much with. It was low mileage and pretty cherry. I semi-regret selling it, but if I had it back, I'd probably just sell it again.
Had a '63 Mercedes that was too rusty to keep, so, no to that.
Sold a couple Jeeps that I don't want back. Need to dump a couple more!
I'll go with the '80 Dodge Colt RS. Twin stick transmission, quick, flicky, great in the snow, lots of memories. It was in fair condition when I sold it, so would be ready to go!
I bought it new ( ordered it in March/arrived in early May )
I was only 18 years old but had a great paying union job so payments were no problem.
One year,5 months later I got drafted (Navy) and knew I could not afford payments on a military wage.
Bought it for $2800
Sold it in October of 65 for $1400 .
It had 21,000 miles on but used cars were a dime a dozen because all the guys getting their draft notices had cars for sale.
Ah, decisions, decisions...
Would it be the '69 Dodge Coronet R/T, 440 Magnum/auto?
Or the 1963 Corvair Spyder?
or the 1966 Barracuda?
Or the 1953 Ford fordor?
or the 1939 Ford coupe?
Or the 1953 Buick 2 door hardtop?
Or the 1941 Buick Special dual carb straight 8?
or the 1952 Kaiser Manhattan?
All (and many others) were fun to drive, and have fond memories associated with them.
If I could only have one, it would be a tough choice!
1972 lime yellow Datsun 240Z .. stolen at only 6 weeks old.
I was only a kid, bought it outright, and cried a lot.
