I need to install new speakers in the deck of my 1999 Mazda 626. Can anyone tell me which of these wires is positive and negative? One picture is the left side rear speaker with a green and black wire and a green and "orange" type wire. The other picture is the right side rear speaker with a yellow/green wire and a green wire with some grey type spots on it.
Is the polarity marked on the old speaker connectors? Could you try a digital voltmeter with the radio on and check them that way. Typically, the ground wire has a black line in it. My guess is that green and black is negative and yellow and green is negative. The solid color wire would then be positive.
If you listen to the sound, sometimes you can tell if you have them reversed.
