I find it hard to believe that the largest plurality of people only drive 5 mph over the speed limit as this poll says. Either people aren't being honest or this isn't a representative group. When I drive on the road, I would say that the largest group is 15 mph or a little more over on the highway and 10-15 mph over on main roads that aren't highways.

I agree. The polls results are strange. It seems like most people do up to 10 mph over.

I usually do about 5 miles over, but not gonna lie sometimes I go over more. In the Chicagoland area on the expressways you have to keep up with traffic or you’ll get eaten alive!! On regular roads no more than 5! I’m not getting a ticket!

On the highway, I routinely do 20 mph over the speed limit and I rarely get a ticket. I definitely wouldn't hold myself to 5 mph over just to avoid the remote threat of a ticket. It doesn't bother me to get a ticket on occasion. My last was 5 years ago.

Agree.

I set my cruise control to the speed limit and stay in the right lane and watch (with amusement) the morons driving at high speeds, frequently changing lanes, riding the next car's bumper, only to see them get off at the same exit as I do.

Same goes for city streets. We end up at the same traffic light.

That's who I'm talking about. LOL.

Even more amusing to see that guy pulled over by a cop and getting a well deserved ticket.

Personally, I drive up to 10 mph over the posted speed limit. To me, it seems like speed limits are set too low in most cases. I feel like if I actually drove the speed limit, it would be dangerous to myself and other drivers!

One interesting thing that I learned that many people don't know is that the yellow speed limit signs are "advisory" signs and are not enforceable by law. Only the white signs are enforceable.
Well, in most cases I drive 5 mph over the limit unless I am driving to Spirit Mountain Casino. I hit the I-205 freeway, set cruise to 65 mph and go. I go late in the night, so the amount of traffic is almost none. I have done the 90 miles in about 95 min....

I don't change lanes a lot or ride on bumpers. I go with the flow but if the road is open, then I open it up. If I get nailed, so be it. I find it pretty amusing myself when it happens. ..
