I'm a skinny young 5'10" guy, so I've never had any trouble fitting into sports cars. But I've often heard bigger guys complain about trying to fit into small sports cars. However Jeremy Clarkson has everything going against him when it comes to fitting into small sports cars. He's a 58 year old 6'5" 300 plus pound out of shape man. How does he manage it?
I'm 6'7 myself and I like hatchbacks like the GTI that he owns as well because they fit tall folks so well. Better than full sized sedans/trucks/suvs in many cases. Sporty cars tend to give the driver more of what room they have and screw anyone in the backseat if there are any.

I'm 6'6" and don't fit in most sports cars so I have a Charger Hellcat that is both comfortable and fun. I've also wondered about Clarkson and judge my ability to fit in a car a bit on how well he does....I'm in more in shape than him even after he's lost down some but the height issue is very similar.
Most cars can be converted to allow for a larger/taller driver. Lamborghini had 'big man conversions' in the Diablo, not sure if they still do this today, but it is possible.
Its basically modifying the driver seat, lowering the seat height and moving it back if possible.
There's a difference between "Fitting" for the purposes of driving it every day and/or for long periods in comfort, and being able to drive it for a little bit.
Also, I'll tell you that head room and leg room are different animals. Many people don't struggle with leg room, but if you have a longer torso, and shorter legs, there's very little you can do. I'm only 6'3 but I have a 30 inch inseam...meaning that head room is hard sometimes. I don't know his measurments but he does seem to have long legs.
