I think there are several choices that do and opinions will vary, but the Mazda 3 is generally considered one of if not the best small cars. That or a Civic are probably the only 2 I would consider spending my own money on.
I recently purchased a new Civic. I opted for the 2dr, 6 spd manual, and non turbo. They like everybody else seem to be pushing the CVT transmissions, and turbos on just about everything it seems like. It took them about a week to get it with the options I wanted, but it was worth it. Runs decent and getting 40 mpg.
I had already planned on getting the 6 spd manual, I saw a guy on You tube driving the Civic with the CVT trans, saying it just takes all the fun out of driving the car. It was funny listening to him talk about it.
Options to consider include Hyundai Elantra Sport and its Kia Forte sibling, Honda Civic, Chevrolet Cruze 1.6L diesel, the upcoming VW Jetta GLI May meet your needs but may go above your given price range, the Subaru Impreza no longer has a higher engine but it’s worth a test drive, and of course the Mazda3 Touring.
Sounds like you are a perfect candidate for another brand new Mazda 3. What color do you want?
Correct answer for OP.
If I were to buy a new sedan I would get a Toyota Camry. Myth or not - they seem to be the best in reliability and resale.
As far as any listed above - skip any that have those experimental CVT transmissions. Even Subaru has had to add an extended warranty for their CVT transmissions.
Test drive a new Subaru Impreza. I sat in one and I observed that the seats were much improved from the previous design. It's about the same size as a Mazda 3 but I think it has a more comfortable ride.
A lot of cars now come with a CVT transmission, and many people (including myself) hate them. You need to test drive a few with a CVT and see if it bothers you, if it does, it will narrow down your search.
I have a 2008 Mazda3 S Sport that I purchased brand new in 2008 and it's ten years old now and has 187K miles on it. So, I want a new car now. The new car must be under $25K (including all added features) and it must be 100% brand new.
One feature I'm particular about, however, is the acceleration. My Mazda3 has a 2.3L 4-cylinder engine with 151 hp and 149 lb-ft torque. I have no idea if these specs mean anything for acceleration ability though. But I want to make sure that my next car has the same or better acceleration. It's so hard to determine this just by browsing online.
The car must be small, about similar in size to my Mazda3. I don't like tiny cars or even midsize cars at all. I want a 4-door sedan. No hatchbacks, crossovers or SUVs. Better MPG is of course, better. As long as it's not worse than 22/29 MPG, which is what I have now. Another thing I'm particular about is the windshield. I like the windshield to be as transparent as possible. I want a bright sunny day to look super bright and sunny and not tinted in the slightest. I'm open to any and all brands.
So, please suggest to me some cars to look at. I will test drive them and also make sure the seats are comfortable (I have chronic back pain). I'm hoping to purchase in November.
Thanks
How are you driving a Mazda 3 with a bad back? My son had a 2005, the incline on the seats used to kill me but he didn't have the electric seats.
If you've had good luck with the car, get another. It's a cute car for a single person. My son bought a 2004
Jeep when his got totaled from flood damage. He loved his car though, it was really good to him too
Anything other than a sedan doesn't appeal to me. Hatchbacks and SUVs are ugly and bulky looking IMO. I don't have a family or anything. I'm just a young, single guy.
Coupe? Convertible?
Google fastest car under $30k and just go drive them.
Another option to consider is Nissan Sentra turbo. While I’m not a fan, it does have comfortable seats, 4 doors, and is within your price range.
