I will admit, I didn't notice the "GAS" 6.0. Had Powerjoke 6.0 in my head.
Now, see, it would pay for me to actually read the whole article.

Which with the way I drive, in stop in go traffic here in New Orleans with the speed limit of 35 to 40 mph, I can go on 10 bucks of fuel in my Chevy truck over 27 miles in city stop and go traffic, as long as I'm not hard on the throttle and dont drive fast like everyone else does. Which I drive safely. In a 40 mph speed zone I drive under 35 mph.

Unleaded fuel price the lowest in New Orleans, Louisiana as of now is 2.37 a gallon

By the way his truck had problems with the turbo which he spent over 1100 bucks on a new turbo which he put in it last year, needs a new freeze plug now and maybe injector.

Despite this, I give good compliments on his truck, I try to tell him that he should keep it, although since last year of 2017 he went and got a 2011 Ford F250 gas 6.0 Quad Cab

Is his truck really better compared to mines due to his being a Diesel?

Better for what? The 6.0 is a considerably more capable truck, but, it would cost more to buy, and it's more complicated to work on. If you don't tow really heavy loads, and you hardly have any hills to speak of there in Louisiana - your existing Chevy is probably fine for you.

The question of why a guy would be driving around alone in a 4-door heavy duty pickup is left for another day. These make into rather thirsty commuters.

Particularly under a heavy load, the Diesel would give you better fuel economy. However you would have to tow a lot a long ways to pay for the difference in the two truck's price.

The 454s and 488s were fine when gas costs about a buck/gallon. Now they are best used when a heavy load is being pulled.

Diesels are far better for pulling heavy loads though. If someone does a great deal of that, a diesel is for them.

Getting diesels maintained and repaired can be quite expensive though.

My Ford truck has a high performance 281 gas and is kind of impressive for a gas truck engine. Gas mileage is pretty decent, for a truck, when not pulling a load, I think it might have 24 valves and 290 horses being the high performance option.

According to the 2006 Ford RV & Trailer Towing Guide, an F-350 6.0L Turbo Diesel V8 4x4 with the 3.73 rear axle has a GCWR of 23,000 pounds. That goes up by 500 if you option the truck with the 4.10 rear axle.

Because it's what I want which I don't take it for granted.

Come down to New Orleans, Louisiana, majority of the streets are rough and an average vehicle won't survive. However , that is not the only reason I got a large vehicle

I don't question other people's vehicle of choice as long as they take car of it. Which I know people who got Bentleys and BMWs and other vehicles that I admire and are proud of them for getting what they have. but those aren't my choices

And since you want to bring up what I got is "bad" then how about this, I don't see why everyone needs a sports car where they cant go fast.

Others, rather waste their funds on drinking , smoking, gambling, high dollar football tickets and other crap. So why not you critisize those about those habits?

Well I do have a '75 F-350, 460, C-6, 4.10 gears. I drive it occasionally around the ranch area, but don't generally use it to commute because it will barely crack 10 MPG. For commuting I have the Scirocco.

Not intending to bust your chops, just saying that this is a very large and thirsty truck to just carry around the driver.

But, whatever, drive what you like.

I don't know where you stay, however here in New Orleans, Louisiana Regular Unleaded gas is 2.37 a gallon, while diesel is 2.89 a gallon

As for your second vehicle , I got a second vehicle myself, 1999 Ford Crown Victoria LX with a 4.6 V8.

Before you start talking stuff about fuel mileage, the Crown Victoria can go from New Orleans, Louisiana to Little Rock, Arkansas which is a 6 to 8 hour trip on 40 bucks of fuel. Just keep the speed limit and set the cruise control. Along with the fact those vehicles can last over 500000 miles.

Currently however I'm selling it to get the updated model from 2003 or 04.

As for your F350 not bad. 10 miles a gallon from a big block is bad but not that bad, same with my 454
