i have done without heated seats for so many years, i probably could never appreciate them. to me its just something else that can break and cost money to repair. plus the fact that i dont like having electricity run through something that can catch fire given the wrong circumstances.
I never wanted heated seats until my current truck. Now, when I remote start the truck it automatically turns on either my heated or cooled seats depending on the temp. On chilly mornings it sets my temp, my heated seat, and my heated steering wheel. I have to say that I've grown quite fond of it very quickly. The rear seats in both our vehicles are also heated, so my kids don't have much to complain about when it's cold out.
I couldn't figure out why I was cold on my way to work this morning until I remembered I was in my 02 Jeep and it didn't have any of that stuff.
Heated seats are great, but what makes them even better is when the vehicle has a factory remote start system that turns on the heated seats (and steering wheel if equipped) as well when the temps are cold. So nice getting into a car with a warm seat vs sitting on cold leather.
Ventilated seats took some getting used to. At first it felt like I lost control of bodily functions, but they grew on me and I began to appreciate using the same remote start system in the summer and coming out to a car with cool seats vs 130 degree black leather.
Heated/Ventilated seats are one of those options I never really cared about until I got a vehicle with them and now I can't ever do without them. Also, keyless ignition. I love it
Our old Cayenne had a "Winter" package that was awesome. Had heated seats front and rear, thicker windows for better insulation, but the best part was the heated steering wheel... That car had 2 batteries. When the ambient temperature outside the car dropped below 50 degrees, it would automatically heat the steering wheel up, even in the middle of winter with temps in the teens and 20's, the wheel was always warm when you got in the car.
My last car had heated and air conditioned seats. Let me tell ya, I loved those air-conditioned seats here in Texas. My new car has heated, air-conditioned, and massaging seats. I love them.
