As the Worst Car Trends thread came to be very popular, here's just the opposite one - BEST car trends.
Now, remember, folks. This is POSITIVE thread. If you disagree or don't like what they consider good, or whatever NEGATIVE - please do go to the WORST thread and post it there:

Power windows, door locks, and tilt steering as standard on all trims where they used to be part of packages or trim levels.

I can’t think of many, but I’m going to go with electric power steering. Initially they had some issues, but now most are very good. No more worrying about whining pumps and leaking hoses.

Sound insulation is better now too with acoustic glass.

YOU CAN'T THINK OF MANY!!!
How about modern cars can get 200,000 miles like it ain't nothing and still running. It used to be, cars were barely able to reach 100,000 (if they were lucky). Hell, odometers wouldn't even have more than 99,999 back in the day.

How about getting 30 mpg is not even considered impressive anymore. Close to 50 mpg now days.

How about your average sedan is pushing about 300 HPs these days. It used to be 175 HPs for "bad-ass" muscle cars back in the day.

Things that I like:
Automatic headlights that come on at dusk or when the wipers are turned on.
Cruise control
A car that is high enough so that it is not a chore to get in and out of.
Good mirrors.
Controls that are intuitive to a stranger who may have rented the car.

Xenon lights, and that's old news. Awesome. I've driven so many cars and replaced so many bulbs, all garbage or a variation -of. No more.

My '96 BMW did NOT have this expensive option. Retrofit: forget it due to expense. Xenon was exotic then. My pal with a similar year did have these, and they just worked better.

I did a retrofit on my '07 Toyota with some light pros here in town who stand behind their work. Expensive, more than a thousand bucks, but wish I'd done it earlier.

LEDs will probably sweep all of that away soon. And that's even better, should it occur, for more efficiency and safety.

That is progress, not a trend.

Keyless ignition. I couldn't go back to owning a car/truck without it.

Other than ergonomics, I think the list was pretty good. Ergonomics include infotainment, which is unnecessarily complex compared the past. I'm not sure seating has improved much either. My sister's 2005 Volvo V70R has the best seats I've experienced.
