GM's closures are not all bad news if Gm decides to close them Tesla may buy one to handle extra model 3 demand. https://electrek.co/2018/12/07/tesla...ies-elon-musk/

I was going to say something like that, but a "plant" is simply a set of huge buildings, set up to move around large manufactured items, with all the support like industrial-level utilities and a buttload of worker parking.

Tesla could build new, but they can buy or lease an existing plant for pennies on that cost, and fit it with their equipment. (Maybe they will even have learned the tech-ween lesson about making a line so highly automated you can't add a monkey to tighten bolts faster.)

Of course, either way is just an opportunity to replicate their prior mistakes, too.

As long as th3 building is standing the assembly line parts production storage machinery and the interior can be changed out. It’s not like they are going to use the e siting assembly line to build 1994 Oldsmobile’s

Lemming investors. Someone will be willing to dump money in it. I dont think Tesla is going away anytime soon. Even if they were in trouble one of the bigs will step in and buy into it. It’s a well received product by the public and has brand recognition. And electric cars aren’t going away. With a little tweaking imo it can be better than anyone elses electric car out there. It’s a ready made electric vehicle company. It can be profitable if they get their suppliers on board. Maybe start doing parts bin sharing between models

They would most likely convert it to a "gigafactory" this is what Tesla uses. Tesla's original Fremont gigafactory is an old GM plant, and things have turned out just fine.

The Gigafactory builds batteries (and some car subassemblies), not cars, and is located in Nevada. It's not a general term for a Tesla manufacturing site.

The Fremont plant is where they are building cars. They need to build more cars, not necessarily more batteries.
